Project 2, Digital Triptych

I made an aquarium, because it was the most awesome thing I could think of.

I had a lot of art noir and illustrations laying around, and I like sea creatures. It was a natural fit. I used the magic wand tool to take the bulk of the backgrounds out, and used the eraser tool with smooth edging for the details. This took me about 7 hours, and I just sat down and did the entire thing. The first panel took the longest, but once it was done, the rest came easily. Each panel has something a bit different going on. See if you can find them all.

  1. I think the concept of the fishbowl is refreshing and unique after seeing a lot of the same sort of collages from the rest of the class. Though, I would like to see more variations throughout the three images.

  2. With these collage type works, a lot of times it can become cluttered and overwhelming for the viewer. However, I think you have been successful in this work because of how much negative space you give. I would too, like more variation, but I think you have succeeded in giving the conception of a fish bowl because of the space you leave. Additionally, I enjoy the framing you have around each image, it goes along with the art noir motif you were working with. The long hours paid off, good work!

  3. a solid peace of work, i enjoy the idea and the concept. I do wish that there was a bit more variety through out the three pieces but other wise a good job well done.
